This year's race is a special year for me as I will be doing my 3oth Steamboat Race. I ran my first one in 1978 at the ripe old age of 42. I did 27 races in a row and then missed the next four. My toughest race was in 2001 just three weeks after the loss of my wife who was always there after every race, my number one fan. I ran in High School and College and at age 75 I feel I am lucky to still be able to lace up the old running shoes and do a few miles. I still feel the old excitement at the starting line when I line up just as I did in High School and College. To all of those who read this I wish you a good race on race day..and keep running :-)
