TEAM STEAM

WHAT IS TEAM STEAM?
The Illinois Valley Striders and the Steamboat Classic are once again offering a training program that is designed to help runners become ‘better runners’. TEAM STEAM 2010 is open to male and female runners of all ages who are preparing for the June 19th 2010, Steamboat Classic race.

WHEN DOES TEAM STEAM MEET?

Tuesdays & Thursdays, starting April 13, 2010.

TEAM STEAM’s Tuesday night meetings will meet at the Woodruff High School Track starting April 13 at 6:00 p.m. Sessions last 1 – 1 ½ hours. We use Woodruff’s 400-meter track, the hills and roads of Glen Oak Park, and the Riverfront trail. The runs -- sometimes speedwork, sometimes hills, sometimes intervals/tempo are led by veteran area coaches and are designed with the runners progression in mind.

TEAM STEAM will also be adding an optional Thursday night workout for those runners who wish to include a longer pace, fartlek, or hill workout into their weekly program. These workouts will be at Woodruff High School at 6 p.m. with distances of 4 to 6 miles not including warm-up and cool-down. Thursday nights will be for all runners wanting to add a strength workout to their program.

WHO IS IN TEAM STEAM?
Whether you run a 6-minute mile or an 11-minute mile, you will be grouped with runners of similar ability focusing on the Steamboat Classic. It is not required, but suggested that you have been running consistently (averaging 3 times/week) for at least a year, and are able to run three miles in less than 33 minutes.

WHAT IS THE COST AND HOW DO I JOIN?
TEAM STEAM 2010 includes 11-weeks of instruction/coaching, a chance to train with some of the area’s top runners, and a special Team Steam Technical Training Shirt and IVS Team Steam Singlet to Graduates.

Entry Fees:

$65.00 including Race Entry (IVS Members* Only!)

IVS Membership:  $15.00 Individual or $20.00 Family
