ACCESS STEAM
WHAT IS ACCESS STEAM?
Access Steam is an all-inclusive exercise and fitness program that is designed to meet the needs of individuals of ALL ages who have been diagnosed with cognitive, developmental or physical disabilities. The additional beauty of this unique program is that it is designed for not only the individual, but the families and loved ones of these individuals are encouraged to participate with them! Steamboat training programs have been heralded for their ability to create a healthy and nurturing environment that successfully fuses Fitness, Friendship, and Fun to help individuals prepare for the Steamboat Classic 4-mile or 4K race held on June 16, 2012.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Sign up now, then bring a friend or come a make new ones at the orientation session the week of April 1, 2012 to one of our four Access Steam training locations. We will introduce ourselves and the program, and share our plans for the next ten Wednesdays. For the second week, wear supportive running or walking shoes and comfortable clothes. After our brief introduction, we will walk, jog, or run together. Come for the fun, come for the fitness, come for a dare, or come for the challenge; but don't put off what you know you want to do – JOIN US! Let's Build some Steam for the Steamboat Classic on June 16, 2012.
OKAY! WHEN AND WHERE?
Access Steam is offered at four convenient locations: Chillicothe, Pekin, Peoria, and Washington. The week of April 1, 2012 we will start with an orientation session at each of the four Building Steam training locations. Our weekly sessions continue for the next ten weeks of Wednesdays, and conclude with the attainment of our goal: the finish line of the Steamboat Classic on Saturday, June 16, 2012.
Sessions will be held at:
- Chillicothe – Tuesdays at 6 PM, hosted by the Chillicothe Park District at Pearce Community Center
- Pekin – Saturdays at 9 AM, hosted by the Pekin Park District at the Royal Avenue Shelter in Mineral Springs Park
- Peoria – Wednesdays at 6 PM, hosted at the Riverplex
- Washington – Thursdays at 6 PM, hosted by the Washington Park District at Five Points
WHAT IS THE COST AND HOW DO I JOIN?
$75.00 Individual Registration Fee (Includes Race Entry)
Just think, you get 11 weeks of coaching, a participants-only Access Steam T-Shirt, a training log, and your fee INCLUDES your entry into the 2012 Steamboat Classic (with its own original T-Shirt). The camaraderie is priceless. Some of our best friends are runners and fitness walkers; and we want you too!
