Team Steam
WHAT IS TEAM STEAM?
The Illinois Valley Striders and the Steamboat Classic are once again offering a training program that is designed to help runners become ‘better runners’. TEAM STEAM 2012 is open to male and female runners of all ages who are preparing for the Steamboat Classic Four Mile or 15K race on June 16, 2012.
WHO IS IN TEAM STEAM?
Team Steam is designed to be most beneficial to those who have been running consistently (averaging 3 times per week) for at least a year, and are able to run three miles in 33 minutes or faster. Whether you run a 6-minute mile or an 11-minute mile, you will be grouped with runners of similar ability.
WHAT WILL WE DO?
Team Steam uses Woodruff’s 400-meter track, the hills and roads of Glen Oak Park, Springdale Cemetery and the RiverFront Trail. The runs- sometimes speedwork, hills, or intervals/tempo runs – led by veteran runners and coaches and are designed with the runner’s progression in mind. Sessions last 1 – 1 ½ hours.
OKAY! WHEN AND WHERE?
Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:00 p.m., starting Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Woodruff High School Track.
WHAT IS THE COST AND HOW DO I JOIN?
TEAM STEAM 2012 includes 11-weeks of instruction/coaching, a chance to train with some of the area’s top runners, and a special Team Steam Technical Training Shirt and IVS Team Steam Singlet to Graduates.
